Judy Akins has had a full career of helping organizations create their brand identity. 

For 20+ years, Judy worked in Mercy’s healthcare administration in Oklahoma. In 2009, she joined the Mercy Health System senior leadership team in St. Louis to consolidate marketing and communications across Mercy’s four-state service area, and lead a five-year re-branding endeavor based in the heritage of the Sisters of Mercy, a customer-driven model of care, and a coordinated experience consistent across the system. She retired from Mercy in 2015.

In 2016, she began volunteering in planning and staff development with Bethany First Church of the Nazarene, a 2400 member church in Bethany, OK. She joined the staff part-time in 2017 as executive director. 

Before a career with Mercy, she co-founded a small Oklahoma City communications and marketing agency serving primarily not-for-profit organizations in education and healthcare. She taught high school for six years.

The loves of her life include her husband of 58 years, her children, and six grandchildren — ranging in age from 8 to 21. She also loves being in the dirt and grit of the garden.
